The Kaiserstuhl, in Baden, produces a number of different wine styles, but all the wines are characterised by beautiful ripe fruit. The whites here are all dry, fresh and elegant, and the Pinot Noirs (Spatburgunder) stand comparison with those from more reknowned regions.
Weingut K-H Johner
Rivaner 2008
Forget your prejudices. This is an excellent Muller Thurgau from old, £110.90 per case

blind tasting.

creamy textured with great structure and length.
Pinot Noir 2007

but it will continue to improve over the next five or more years.
Weingut Dr Heger
Grauburgunder 2008
Powerful Pinot Gris, with ripe tropical fruit character and a perfect £189.25 per case
dry finish. This is a big, but perfectly balanced, wine, with intense fruit
flavours and a filigrain minerality.
Spatburgunder 2007
Slightly smokey, spicey aromas give way to dark fruit on the palate. £218.40 per case
The fruit is bound by soft, supple tannins. The finish is long, with
